The audit · Free, no obligation
Find out what your waste is actually worth
An audit is the cheapest piece of due diligence available to a manufacturing site: we look at everything that leaves, price it against today's market, and give you a written position you can act on with us or without us.

Four steps, no fee, no obligation
Half a day on site, twelve months of paperwork, and a written position you keep whether you appoint us or not.
- 01
Walk the site
We go where the material is (production, warehouse, yard, compound) and see what is actually being thrown away, not what the transfer notes say.
- 02
Read the paperwork
Contracts, invoices, transfer notes and tonnages for the last twelve months. This is where most of the money is hiding.
- 03
Price the streams
Each stream tested against live market prices and our own outlets, so you see what the material is worth today rather than when the contract was signed.
- 04
Report and options
A written breakdown: current cost, achievable cost, and what the recoverable streams are worth. Yours to act on with us or without us.
What an audit typically turns up
These are not exotic findings. They are the same five things, in a different order, on almost every site we walk. They persist because waste is a small line on a large P&L, owned by someone whose actual job is something else.
- CostSegregable material going out as mixed general waste, at general-waste rates.
- RevenueClean production scrap (off-cuts, purgings, start-up waste) being paid for rather than sold.
- ContractRebates and uplifts written into an agreement that nobody has claimed against.
- ComplianceStreams that are PRN-eligible, with the value captured further down the chain.
- LogisticsHalf-empty vehicles, wrong container sizes, collections billed on schedule rather than fill.
What you get at the end
Delivered as a written report. Yours to keep, appoint us or not.
- 01Every stream leaving site, with tonnage, current cost and the contract it sits on
- 02The same streams priced against live market rates and our own outlets
- 03What the segregable and saleable material is worth, and what it takes to realise it
- 04Where you stand on PRN obligations, recycled content and duty of care
- 05Options ranked: what to do first, what to do next, and what is not worth doing
Who this is for
A good fit
- Manufacturing sites producing a consistent weekly waste stream
- Plastics processors, packaging converters and profile fabricators
- Sites with a recycled-content or Plastic Packaging Tax exposure
- Groups with several sites on inconsistent arrangements
- Anyone whose waste contract has not been reopened in three years
Probably not worth your time
- Sites producing only mixed municipal-type waste in small volumes
- Single-collection offices and retail units
- Hazardous-only streams with no recoverable material
- Anyone who has run a genuine market test in the last twelve months
If you are in this column we will say so on the phone rather than book a visit neither of us benefits from.
Common questions about the audit
Is the audit genuinely free?+
Yes. No fee, no obligation, and the written report is yours whether you appoint us or not. We take the view that showing you the number is a better argument than describing it.
How long does it take?+
A site visit is normally half a day to a day depending on size and number of streams. The written report follows within two to three weeks, because pricing the streams properly means going to the market rather than to a rate card.
What do you need from us?+
Access to where the material is produced and stored, and twelve months of waste contracts, invoices, transfer notes and tonnage data. If some of that is missing we can work around it, but the paperwork is where most of the money hides.
What if there is nothing to find?+
Then we will tell you that, in writing, and you will have a documented benchmark showing your current arrangement is competitive. That is a useful thing to hold at your next contract renewal.
Are you going to try to sell us a waste contract?+
We will tell you what we could do and what it is worth. Plenty of what an audit finds sits inside your existing arrangement and needs no change of supplier at all, and when that is the case, we say so.
Is our commercial information safe?+
Contract and pricing information is treated as confidential and is not shared with third parties. We are happy to sign your NDA before anything is disclosed.
